Gary Koos is admitted to practice in New York and Iowa, as well as the U.S. District Courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Mr. Koos has handled thousands of criminal cases in State and Federal Court. He has represented clients in cases involving extreme violence including murder and manslaughter, drug trafficking, sexual assault and white-collar crimes. Mr. Koos also has significant experience appealing decisions and has argued cases before the State Court of Appeals and U. S. Courts of Appeals. He has also appeared before the United States Supreme Court where he represented an appellant in a criminal immigration case (U.S. v. Ignacio Flores-Figueroa, U.S. 2009). Mr. Koos obtained a reversal of the adverse decision.

Mr. Koos is an expert at plea negotiation, but when the situation calls for tough action he is also an expert at jury selection, cross-examination, and opening and closing argument. In the case of U.S. v. Hildebrandt in U.S. District Court Gary Koos represented Kenneth Kraklio in a Federal jury trial for conspiracy and mail fraud that lasted over two months. When his client was acquitted of some, but not all, charges, Mr. Koos was unwilling to quit, and filed an appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals where he continued to argue on his client’s behalf.
